Our Technology
Our innovative technology utilizes the unique properties of low-temperature plasma, operating near ambient pressure and temperature, to break down water and CO2 to hydrogen and carbon. This plasma, coupled with additional catalysts, facilitates the generation of cost-competitive syngas and methane from the newly available hydrogen and carbon.
Our Unique Advantages
First, by operating our system at atmospheric pressure and room temperature, our initial capital costs will be kept to a minimum.
Second, our plasma-based process can rapidly ramp production on the scale of minutes. This combination of low capital costs and the ability to dynamically ramp production allows us to enable the use of off-peak, low-cost electricity. This economic advantage will be magnified as wind and solar resources are added to the nation’s electrical grid, further increasing the availability of intermittent low-cost electricity.
Finally, our ability to utilize carbon from natural water bodies unlocks additional economic efficiencies, as aqueous carbon is 150 times more dense per unit volume than atmospheric carbon. Use of concentrated aqueous carbon feedstock will greatly increase our ability to capture and utilize environmental carbon.

About our Founder
Kurtis Duncan is a challenge-driven Electrical Engineer with a decade of experience working in parallel with high-tech start-ups in a fast-paced consulting environment. Kurt is adept at designing for modularity and manufacturing, having taken hundreds of his clients' products from the early stages of conception through to high-volume manufacturing. Slopeside Energy's mission represents Kurt's long-term ambition to develop a cutting-edge synthetic fuel technology that will decarbonize significant sectors of the global economy.
